Galaxy S9 Variable Camera Aperture Explained: Recently, Samsung has unveiled their Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus at MWC 2018. The phones are a beast when it comes to everything a phone can have. They are just phenomenal and are truly built with perfection.

Now, what makes the Galaxy S9 and the S9 Plus special is the 12MP Dual-Camera system on them, and I say camera system is due to a reason.

Generally, camera modules on smartphones and point and shoot cameras have a fixed aperture. In simple words, aperture means the amount of light a camera can absorb when it clicks a photo.

The Camera on the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus have a variable aperture which changes according to the suitable condition, basically like the human eye.

The thing is whenever we go to a higher aperture, the picture gets softer, this is basically the biggest reason that pictures come out softer on fixed aperture cameras. For eg: A picture will be a lot sharper at F2.4 compared to an F1.5 camera. However, the pictures will come out better in low light situations in an F1.5 camera due to its capacity to absorb more light. The cameras are set to F2.4 on default and go up to F1.4. Though, you can manually change the apertures using the pro mode.

In conclusion, the Galaxy S9 and S9 are going to perform exceptionally in low light situations and at night time. Also, there will be a lot of bokeh in the pictures taken from these devices. The added portrait mode will be a lot better and near to perfection. Overall, a great camera from Samsung.
